Started in November 2022, dredging work is still ongoing at the Pavana Dam, aiming to remove 6,700 m³ of sediment to restore the functionality of the bottom outlet.

The characteristics of the material to be removed (gravelly sand) required the use of a suction-return pump equipped with both lateral hydraulic breakers and a jet-ring powered by a dedicated unit.

A unique feature of the site is that the dredged material is pumped to the top of the surface outlet into a hydraulic disconnect basin.

From here, it falls and is channeled into a pipe located inside the surface outlet shaft and then directed into the gallery.

The installation of the pipe within the shaft and gallery required the support of a specialized company, which secured the specially designed and fabricated steel pipes to the walls and floor.
